How we evaluate conversation tools
Use the same real workflow, evidence and stop conditions across categories.
The situation
Products on this site solve different jobs. A useful evaluation begins with the diagnosed bottleneck, then tests one representative task, cost boundary and failure case.
Work through it
- Write the current workflow in one paragraph, including volume, owner, permission and the outcome the team needs.
- Run the same representative task in each shortlisted product. Record setup effort, missing features, handoff quality and the pricing units that apply to your case.
- State when the manual process or existing tool performs adequately. Publish source links and review dates for claims, and separate editorial reasoning from any commercial relationship.
What to measure
- Task completed without workarounds
- Time and cost required for the actual workflow
- Exceptions handled with a clear owner
Boundaries
- We do not infer performance from vendor marketing examples or published testimonials.
- Product capabilities and programme terms may change; verify current official material before buying.
Questions for your own workflow
- What is the one task to test?
- What would make the tool unsuitable?
- What does the existing process already do well?
