Map a lead-to-conversation funnel

A practical worksheet for source, response, fit, ownership and next step.

The situation

Draw the path a real inquiry took last week. The goal is to expose a missing decision or owner, not to make a perfect diagram of every possible journey.

Work through it

  1. Select ten recent inquiries from one source. Record arrival, first useful answer, fit decision, handoff and agreed next step. Mark unknowns explicitly.
  2. Put the events in order for each inquiry and identify the first missing or delayed stage. Do not jump to the most visible later failure.
  3. Choose one rule to test for two weeks, such as a backup owner or a clearer first answer. Keep the same sample definition when reviewing change.

What to measure

  • Cases with all stage timestamps
  • First missing stage per case
  • Cases with an accepted next step

Boundaries

  • Small samples expose workflow problems but are not market benchmarks.
  • Never upload actual customer names or messages to this site's audit.

Questions for your own workflow

  1. Which source will you sample?
  2. Where is the earliest uncertainty?
  3. What single change will you test?
