Supervise a small B2B follow-up sequence

Keep target fit, contact basis, opt-outs and human review visible when testing sales engagement.

The situation

A sequence is an execution layer, not a substitute for a reason to contact someone. Start with a few records whose fit and next action are understood, then test the message and stop rules under human supervision.

Work through it

  1. Select one narrow segment from a validated sample. Document the intended contact channel, exclusions, suppression and owner for each record.
  2. Write a short sequence with a relevant first message, a limited number of follow-ups and clear stop conditions for reply, opt-out, bounce or changed fit. Review every step before activation.
  3. Observe a small pilot. Record useful replies, complaints, meetings, staff corrections and records that should never have entered the sequence.

What to measure

  • Eligible records after validation
  • Replies and opt-outs handled on time
  • Qualified meetings with an accepted owner

Boundaries

  • Do not equate send volume, open rate or database size with qualified demand.
  • Check applicable contact and platform rules for the actual market; do not use automation to evade suppression.

Questions for your own workflow

  1. Why is this account in scope?
  2. What event stops all further touches?
  3. Who answers a human reply?
