Stage 7: a booked or agreed next step
End each useful conversation with an explicit outcome and owner.
The situation
The output of the path may be a booked call, trial, quotation, purchase decision or a respectful no. Recording the outcome helps the team learn which earlier stage needs work.
Work through it
- Define the next-step outcomes that matter for your business. A booked meeting and a qualified meeting may need separate labels.
- Make the date, owner and purpose visible to both the customer and team. Handle cancellations and no-shows with a clear, limited process.
- Review outcomes alongside source and first response. Look for a fixable process gap before attributing every change to a tool.
What to measure
- Conversations with an agreed outcome
- Qualified next steps completed
- Reasons for no next step
Boundaries
- Do not publish ROI or conversion claims without a real measurement method and time range.
- A declined offer can be a good outcome when the team is not the right fit.
Questions for your own workflow
- What is the next step for a qualified case?
- Who owns a no-show or stalled decision?
- What outcome should be recorded when there is no fit?
